The long wait finally ends; Samsung after much follow ups announced today the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The latest flavor of Android operating system is now ready for updates on both Samsung Galaxy flagships.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for their devices as per the update schedule where the unlocked device are listed first followed by carrier-locked units. Samsung has earlier been criticized for its update policy that kept most of its flagship users away from latest Android updates. Following the criticism Samsung today announced the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for both of its ruling Galaxy flagships.
Besides the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge Samsung also hinted the arrival of Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for other compatible Galaxy devices. Next to these updates, Samsung is expected to announce the details of the Android updates and the release dates for different market.
As per Samsung announcement the devices that are carrier-locked will have to get the updates in accordance with their relative market and cellular carrier’s requirements. Therefore such users are yet to confirm the Android 6.0 Marshmallow with their carrier.
Though the arrival of Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates is appreciating for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge users but it is still much delayed and for the users of locked devices it will be even more delayed. But Samsung at least took a step forward which will probably be followed by next release of updates for other Galaxy devices.
