We have got good news for owners of Sony‘s older smartphones or tablets. People who are still eagerly awaiting their Sony devices to get the Android Marshmallow update will be happy to hear that a slew of aging models has just been approved for the OS update. A couple weeks back the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow already began hitting the beta program owners of Xperia Z2 and Z3. But, some of the older models had not received the update and were left out in the cold. Fortunately, thanks to the latest update by Sony now almost all Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 smartphone and tablet models are going to get a taste of Android Marshmallow.
The latest smartphones and tablets are always prioritized when it come to software updates. So, naturally all devices under the Xperia Z5 series, Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+ got the Marshmallow update first. Owners of Xperia Z2 (D6503), Xperia Z3 (D6603), and Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803) were able to install the Android Marshmallow update earlier on in the month, provided they were registered in the Beta Program.
A number of additional Xperia X2 and Z3 variants will be furnished with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via build number 23.5.A.0.570. Along with the ones mentioned above Xperia Z3 (D6646, D6653), Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633), Xperia Z3 Compact (D5833), Xperia Z2 (D6502), and Xperia Z2 Tablet (SGP511, SGP512, SGP521) are also ready for the 900 MB bundle.
There is one lonely device that was not fortunate enough to get the Marshmallow update. It appears that the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact has been excluded from the recent OS update. It is still unconfirmed whether this is due to a technical issue or a conscious decision on Sony’s part.
