When it comes to holiday sale Apple is the leading name with its device on the top of list. Starting with top products on the wishlist before the sale to the top performers upon closing Apple has got a notable edge over the competitors. The same we find for items gifted this holiday season where a report shows Apple again on the leading position.
Yahoo-run analytics firm the Flurry Insights went through the gift giving trends for this holiday season resulting in some interesting data. According to the details Apple products accounted for 49.1% of all devices activated during this Christmas week. Though this is about 2% down from the 51.3% of the same period last year but still Apple stand high against other vendors in the market.
Apple claimed 49% of the devices activation which is 2% less than the 51% last year. On the other hand, Samsung scored 19.8% of device activation which 2% more than the 17% of last year.
Standing far behind Apple, the Samsung devices scored 19.8% of the devices activations which is however up from the 17.7% of last year. According to the Flurry Insight this rise in the Samsung devices’ share is mainly because of the Galaxy Core Prime, Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy S6.
Looking into the general device trends Phablets are found most popular this year making up the 27% of device activations. This is quite remarkable showing a two-fold increase in sales as for the year 2014 phablets accounted for just 13% of the device activation.
The share of devices with 3.5inch or smaller display accounted for just one percent. The mini tablets however performed a little to secure about 9% of device activations but their performance was down as compared with 11% of last year. Among these the iPad Pro made less than one percent of device activations. The report also show more than two-fold increase in app downloads this season as compared with last year. This is however quite expected with increase in device activations.
