According to a report released yesterday, Apple is still growing in the PC market. Piper Jaffray has recently released its latest survey, that focuses on Apple’s performance in the teen market.The result of the survey has yielded that Apple is still dominating the teen market across all product categories. The results of the survey have been collected from 6,500 teenagers having an average age of 16 and a half years.
The survey by Piper Jaffray shows that 69 percent of the teenagers own an Apple iPhone. The number of teenagers owning an iPhone has gone up 3% year after year. This is a statistic to be noted amidst reports claiming that iPhone has reached its peak popularity. This shows that the device’s popularity is still growing among the teenagers and younger users.Although in tablet market, the iPad isn’t as popular among the teenagers
Although in the tablet market, the iPad isn’t as popular among the younger generations as the iPhone. The company shares have actually declined among teenagers when it comes to the iPad. Furthermore, tablets have been experiencing an overall decline in the entire table market. According to the survey, only 59% of teenagers owned a tablet. This has declined 3% year over year.
To be specific only 48% of teen tablet owners own an iPad. Last year it was 51%. However, the usage of iPad mini is increased. A total of 16% teens that were surveyed reported owning the iPad mini, this is also up by 3% compared to last year. Android tablet usage among the younger generations has remained a stagnant 18%.
When it comes to smartwatches, 12% of teens have reported owning one, compared to last year this has also increased 7%. Out of the smartwatches owned by teens, a total 71 percent reported owning an Apple Watch. These statistics indicated that the Apple Watch is still dominating the smartwatch market. These numbers are in line with the predictions analysts had made before the Apple Watch was released last year.
In the whole wearable device market, Fitbit came on top as the most preferred wearable among teens by earning the approval of 72% of survey responders. Nike came in second with 12% approval responses, while the Apple Watch came in third with only 6%.
Last month, IDC predicted that the Apple Watch will take over the smartphone market by the year 2020. It is expected that the A[[le Watch will gain 37.6 % market share, by selling 31 million units, while Android Wear is expected to sell 28 million units and grab 35% market share.
