Blackberry Passport Specifications and Review

Blackberry Passport Specifications

Blackberry with its passport smartphone targeted the particular customers. The device is no doubt a high end with its specs and features but it’s not that conventional smartphone all expects. It has launched its square-shaped new flagship smartphone. Looking weird in the hand as it looked in the promotions, a square, box like device with metallic trim and a physical keyboard at the bottom.

Although don’t focus on its weird shape, there is much more in its specs. It’s the powerful 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor that comes with the 3GB RAM, which makes it super-fast. In the 4.5-inch slab there is 32GB of storage along with a microSD slot to increase it to the ends. Also there is a 13MP rear-facing camera which looks simply great.

The Canadian company has focused at all on the specs leaving many other aspects behind. With high end specs it comes with the same range prices. Its SIM free version is there at $599. These prices bring it up there with the iPhones, HTC and Samsung in the high price smartphone sellers.

Blackberry makes it justified with its so-called “power users” who want the powerful smartphone that works not just the entertainment and stylish look. To satisfy them it has included advanced office functions in its passport. It’s great for Emails, spreadsheets, reports; with the 4.5-inch 1:1 screen it incorporates 60 characters in a line while the other regular smartphones can only do 40. It is betting that the specific customers would be using its device for checking office documents, eBooks and websites in their PC version for which there is the square, 1440 x 1400 Gorilla Glass 3 screen.

The second big design point is the return of the keyboard – which was always BlackBerry’s calling card. It’s attached to the bottom of the screen with a somewhat squat appearance – due to dropping from four rows of keys to three. This means common punctuation marks, as well as numbers, appear as on-screen keys directly above the physical buttons.

Its size is clearly not made for the side pocket of your jeans while it may look better in the inside jacket pocket. Also it cannot be easily used by one hand with its 90.3mm wide and 128mm long size. It’s 194g in weight that makes it harder to hold.

Finally it’s a productive phone rather than being an entertainer and a social media phone. It might look well while used during the day at a desk on a laptop.
