A leak in the middle of March had indicated that Samsung’s Galaxy J3 (2016) is headed to AT&T. This has recently been confirmed by the carrier. AT&T has officially revealed the release date and price of the upcoming Samsung J3 2016 version.
The Galaxy J3 is a budget smartphone, its features include a 5-inch 720×1280 AMOLED display, LTE connectivity, 1.5 GB of RAM and supports internal memory expansion of up to 16 GB. The internal memory can be expanded by inserting a memory of up to 16 GB. The smartphone is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. It includes a 2MP front camera and a 5 MP rear camera. It has a sufficiently sized battery of 2600 mAh. Compared to its siblings; the Galaxy J5 and J7, the Galaxy J3 lacks in hardware, but it is still quite a strong competitor.
The latest version of J3 has been available in the market for a while now. The smartphone has been available at Virgin and Boost since January. The Android 5.1.1 is pre-installed in the J3 available at Virgin and Boost. Both Boost and Virgin Mobile have been offering the Galaxy J3 for the price of $179.99 off contract.
AT&T has revealed that the smartphone will be available for purchase on May 6th. The smartphone will be cost $5.67 per month, which will be payable through AT&T’s Next 24 instalment Plan, for a period of 30 months. We were hoping that AT&T’s Galaxy J3 will be upgraded to Android Marshmallow, but sadly it will come with the ageing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed. The good thing software wise is that user’s will be able to reap the benefits of Samsung’s baked-in KNOX security suite.
Among budget smartphones, Samsung’s Galaxy J5 is a good and steady contender. Budget devices tend to get cut down on feature and lack in hardware. But Samsung has included all the sufficient specifications in the J3, making it worth while.
