Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition is coming soon

Samsung has been releasing special editions of its smartphones and other devices for quite some time now.  The company has been launching special edition devices especially the one that has high specifications. Just last month, a special edition Batman-themed Samsung Galaxy S7 edge was released in collaboration with the DC Comics to promote the announcement of the Injustice 2 game. But, now it looks like the Korean tech giant may be steering away from superheroes and looking into producing other special edition devices namely Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition.

A report from SamMobile which is corroborated by the above image, courtesy of Evan Blass reports that that Samsung is indeed working on an ‘Olympic Edition’ of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. With the Rio Olympic games is starting in less than two months from now, so it would make sense for the company to launch the product in a relatively short time frame, so to build up on the hype surrounding such a big, international event.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition which is codenamed Hero2_Olympic_edition. The one thing most of us are wondering is whether it will come in both designs, the standard flat version, as well as the pictured edge model or will it be skipped entirely and only an Edge version will be available.

Considering that the Batman S7 was an Edge model  the one Samsung seems to be promoting more, so much so that the latest upcoming Galaxy Note 7 is speculated to be released only with the curved edge design. It makes sense that the company will stick to the same pattern.

As far as appearances are concerned, it may not be as fetching as the DC Comics Injustice one. The Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition has simply yellow accents on the front and blue ones on the back.  There is also an Olympics logo on the smartphone.

The SamMobile’s sources also indicate that there might also be some Olympic themed VR apps in development also. There are two apps that are supposedly codenamed “IOC_Olympic_app” and “Rio2016_WOW_Olympic_app” respectively, this suggests that the smartphone may be bundled with a GearVR headset.
