Currently, Google has check-marked the Android one for the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The remaining devices which have been tested with the Marshmallow initially, will hopefully be updated sooner.
The Android One smartphone was launched with the recent update. The device targeted the markets in developing regions. Google has made a fixation with local companies in many countries to bring the devices to its range of users.
Among the selected markets; the Android 6.0.1 updates were first made available in Philippines for Cherry Mobile G1.
Though the Android Marshmallow is expected to offer many features; but what the latest updated version is going to offer is yet unclear. However it is quite likely to have that the device will have some minor updates. Some of them may be newly included features and some other bug fixes etc.
The monthly security updates released by Google are not being considered as the part of current version. This is because we already have the security update scheduled for this month; thus any further update will be possible till next month. Thus, the Android version number is still unchanged in the recent devices like Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
There are talks about Google going forward for another Marshmallow version that would be Android 6.1. This is leaked by a reliable HTC ROM developer. The leakster suggests that the Android 6.0.1 is the premature release before the Android 6.1 Marshmallow. However we may not see the new version this year. But expectations are high for an early release next year, which may encourage future developments.
