HTC & Google in talks to bring two Nexus phones this year?

HTC was the first manufacturer to own the Nexus devices with its tag on the Nexus One. The journey of HTC with Nexus device has been appreciating which was later joined by the Nexus 9 tablet. The story is not finished yet, as fresh report suggests that two new Nexus devices are adding up in HTC portfolio very soon.

Following the trend of phablets, it seems Google and HTC will bring a regular Nexus phone of 5-inch display along with a Nexus Plus variant having 5.5 inch display screen.

The fresh hints were out on the Weibo where the HTC plans for this year are being discussed with a pair of Nexus handset. According to the details HTC is working on two new Nexus devices which will get launched sometime this year most probably in October when Google holds its event for the launch of Nexus devices. Apart from the hints about upcoming Nexus devices, the information we have, is too little.

Considering the speculation about the upcoming Nexus devices we have found just their display details which are also not confirmed yet. The details show the first devices with a 5-inch display while the second one will be nearly a phablet with a larger 5.5inch display.

The decision to bring the upcoming devices in two different variants is good. However it is yet premature to judge if they will be good enough to help HTC holding its position against the tough competition. As we have recently observed, HTC is struggling badly against the growing challenges in the smartphone market.

The key manufacturers in the smartphone market including the Samsung, LG and Apple have taken the competition a bit higher with their flagships. Against the flagship devices of all three manufacturers in the markets HTC has its One M9 and the One A9 which was launched last year.

Following the HTC One M9 flagship the company has also pushed its mid-range HTC One A9 and the HTC One X9. Besides the speculations about the upcoming Nexus devices HTC is also expected to bring the HTC One M10 as its flagship for 2016. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Read about our Affiliates Disclosure Policy here.
