2015 was a lucky and busy year for Huawei following the remarkable performance this year. Huawei smartphone made up 7.4% of Global shipment in third quarter this year, scoring third place in the market. Now as we move towards the end of this year, Huawei claims to have hit a milestone.
A Weibo post by the company shows that it has shipped over 100 million smartphones in 2015. This is quite appreciating for the company considering the tough competition by top makers in the market. Huawei may also cash the remarkable performance by opening up 2016 with its highly anticipated devices.
The shipment of 100 million smartphones is a record by Huawei which makes it the third top smartphone maker. The industry still remains dominated by Apple and Samsung which are now joined by Huawei as third contender. However unlike Apple and Samsung, Huawei has its own track to follow.
To cross the landmark Huawei has brought a number of devices throughout the year. The figures are buildup by the devices in the varying ranges in the market. However the key part was played by the inexpensive devices. Though there have also been devices like the P8 and Mate S making up the figure but still the credit goes to those in lower-end of markets.
The figures are quite impressive when placed before the emerging brands that are already counting high in volume in the market. For instance the Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Meizu also have scored a good volume in the market selling inexpensive devices.
The Huawei track in the smartphone market has been impressive enough. This year Huawei’s portfolio included the high-end Nexus 6P while for users in the European market it has its Honor lineup. Huawei is also reported to extend its European plans to the US market too.
