Huawei‘s latest flagship devices the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are going to be released in the coming week after the official launch event held yesterday. There is no doubt that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will be strong competitors, to the top tier iPhone 6S and Galaxy S7 smartphones. Although, currently the latest flagship devices are not set to launch in the United States they carry solid specifications.
The hardware, camera, display and features of the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are all top notch. Both can be easily categorized as premium smartphones. So, in order to broaden the appeal of the latest flagship, and also target the mid-range market Huawei is going to be offering a cheaper version of the P9. This toned down model is named the Huawei P9 Lite.
The Huawei P9 Lite will be targeted at those who are looking for a mid-range smartphone. The device will feature a 5.2-inch FHD display. According to people at Hi-tech, it will include a single rear-facing camera instead of the dual in the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. The camera specialist Leica has developed the dual rear shooters in the P9 and P9 Plus. Huawei has marketed the Leica collaboration very strongly. Although it remains to be seen if the cameras will live up to the hype but the Pictures taken with the Huawei P9 have already started popping up on the internet.
The Huawei P9 Lite’s front camera will be 8 MP supposedly. The handset will also offer memory expansion of up to 16 GB via microSD card. The smartphone will come with two configuration choices, one with 2GB of RAM, and other with 3GB of RAM, according to the details.
The P9 and P9 Plus both also include the fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphone. The Huawei P9 will start shipping from April 16th and it is priced at $680. The smartphone will be available in Ceramic White, Prestige Gold, Haze Gold, Titanium Silver, Rose Gold and Mystic Silver colors. The Huawei P9 Plus will be available at the price of $850.
Currently, there is no word on when the Huawei P9 Lite will be released. Hopefully, it will start shipping soon after the standard Huawei P9 and P9 Plus make their way to the market.
