Instagram has 300 million users, surpassed Twitter

Instagram announced on Wednesday that it has 300 million active users. The Facebook owned, photo-sharing social network, Instagram has now over 300 million users who are posting 700 million Photos and videos per day.

Instagram chief executive Kevin Systrom said in a recent blog post that over the past four years, what began as two friends with a dream has grown into a global community that shares more than 70 million photos and videos each day.

He said that We’re thrilled to watch this community thrive and witness the amazing connections people make over shared passions and journeys . Instagram is home to creativity in all of its forms, a place where you can find everything from images of the Nile River to the newest look from Herschel Supply or a peek inside the mind of Taylor Swift.

Nine-month ago Instagram reached to 200 million users and now it has achieved another milestone by reaching to 300 million active users. Another good thing about Instagram that 65 percent of Instagram’s users are outside of the America.

According to Recode, with the milestone of 300 million users Instagram has now surpassed rival social network Twitter which has 284 million users in October 2014.

After launching in 2010 the Facebook owned, photo-sharing social network, Instagram has proved itself. In 2013 Instagram had 100 million active users, in March this year it had 200 million active users but in recent past Instagram has seen incredible growth by reaching 200 million users.

Instagram has also taken the steps to prevent fake accounts as Instagram would begin using verified badges for athletes, celebrities, sportsperson and brands to assure usres that they are following real celebrities rather than fake people. Systrom also said that These badges will start rolling out over the coming days. We’re committed to doing everything possible to keep Instagram free from the fake and spammy accounts that plague much of the Web. According to Instagram removal of fake account is part of its ongoing anti-spam efforts.

Besides Instagram, LinkedIn has 331 million user accounts but we cannot say how many LinkedIn accounts are active
