LG owns some of the good smartphones in the market but the data from last year shows it facing a hard time. To remove the curse LG has apparently planned something big for this year. This emerged after LG published its Q4 earning with key plans for a successful business ahead.
LG has been facing the issues with low shipments and volatile profitability with its key smartphones. As the data suggest, in the fourth quarter of 2015, LG shipped 15.3 million smartphones which is 2 percent higher than the shipments in third quarter but almost 2 percent down as compared to the shipment in fourth quarter of 2014.
According to the details the upcoming LG G5 will be a premium device with high features and would be launched at MWC scheduled for next month in Barcelona.
The data further reveals that LG has shipped 59.7 million smartphones throughout the year 2015 which is 0.5 million higher as compared to the shipments in 2014. Despite the minor improvements which took the company to break even in 2015, the overall performance seems disappointing.
With this hard time, LG is set to face the rising competition with the much anticipated devices launching this year. However, the improvement in shipment of smartphones in last quarter of 2015 makes LG feeling a little positive for its performance in 2016. In the US market the Q4 shipment of LG devices increased by 13 percent in 2015 as compared with Q4 shipment in 2014. The surge in Q4 2015 in the US market is attributed mainly with the LG V10.
LG however admits that the numbers could improve with a better strategy. And with the pledge to improve the numbers it announces to bring two new flagship smartphones this year. Among the two flagships, one will be the LG G5 while the second one is yet to be named. According to the details the upcoming LG G5 will be a premium device with high features and would be launched at MWC scheduled for next month in Barcelona.
