Microsoft launches Nokia Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL and the foldable Keyboard at MWC 2015

We have seen the HTC One M9 Launch event, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge unpacked event, the release of Sony Xperia M4 Aqua all at one place that is MWC 2015 at Barcelona. Microsoft also hold the press event at the same and launched couple of Lumia devices i.e. Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL and also the unexpected foldable Bluetooth Keyboard which is compatible with Windows, iPhone and Android. We will here discuss in brief about the Microsoft event at MWC 2015, which only lasted for 40 minutes with the slogan ‘Achieve more with Microsoft and Lumia’.

Microsoft launched Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 640. Lumia 640 XL is a large screen phablet and matches a lot with Lumia 640 except the size.

With 5.7-inch display, and screen resolution of 720 x 1280 the screen will be backed by IPS LCD and Gorilla Glass 3. Microsoft Lumia 640 XL will run on Windows 8.1 and will be upgradeable to Windows 10. The new Microsoft Lumia 640 and 640 XL will include 1 year free subscription of Office 365.

The 640 XL will be equipped with 1 GB RAM and will provide 8GB internal storage which is extendable to 128GB with micro-SD card. Powered by Snapdragon 40 quad-core 1. GHz processor, the new Lumia 640 XL will be backed by a 3000 mAh battery. Similarly it will have a 13 MP rear camera.

Microsoft is planning to release it by April 2015 with the price tag of $210 for 3G model and $245 for 4G LTE model.

Another affordable handset by Microsoft launched at MWC 2015 is Lumia 640. The Microsoft Lumia 640 will feature 5-inch HD display screen as compared to 5.7-inch of Lumia 640 XL.

Most of the details for both the handsets are same. Microsoft Lumia 640 will also run on Windows Phone 8.1 and will be upgrade-able to Windows 10. You will get the Single SIM and Dual SIM variants both with 3G and 4G LTE support.

The major difference between the two, except the size, is Camera. Microsoft Lumia 640 will be equipped with 8MP rear camera as compared to 13MP of 640 XL. Another difference is battery. Lumia 640 will be backed by 2500 mAh battery.

Planned to release in April 2015, Microsoft Lumia 640 will be available for $155 for 3G model and 4G LTE model will be available for $177.

The surprise for the MWC 2015 participants by Microsoft is the foldable Keyboard powered by Bluetooth and compatible with Windows, Android handsets and iPhone. If you have a large pocket jeans, you can put this foldable Keyboard into your pocket with your device.
