Nexus 6P back camera covering glass getting cracks after some time of usage

When Nexus 6P made its official appearance, the glass penal that covers the main camera was worth noticing. But for some unlucky users the same attractive part has reportedly turned to be a curse, costing them their beloved stylish device. The glass penal is reported by its users cracking suddenly without being hit or anything else.

According to the reports one of the Nexus 6P users came up heartbroken that his device camera glass penal has cracked suddenly. While another user reported experiencing the same on reddit. As the second user narrated that his device was placed on the table untouched and suddenly with spontaneous snap the glass penal was all cracked.

Pictures shared by both users show the same issue and the glass penal to cover the main camera seems cracked in the same manner on both devices. For most of the Nexus 6P users and even for Google the issue seems to be something new as it was unexpected. Thus we have no official explanation yet from the company.

However in such case, official statement may delay following a complete assessment of the issue. But here we have gathered some expected reasons that are being talked about in this regard. One of the possible reasons could be the normal phenomenon that we experience with glasses. Glass expends with heat and shrinks after cooling thus contact with a hot surface may cause such a case to happen.

If it proves to be the case than way may come to think about the Gorilla Glass 4 used in the Nexus 6P. Usually glass comes with a good degree of compressive strength that stops it from cracking but a minor design flaw can cause a big damage. A similar issue was faced with Nexus phones last year that came with a complete glass covering. This can lead suspicions to this direction but other reasons are possible too.
