OnePlus to bring CyanogenMod on OnePlus 2 soon

The initial success of the OnePlus One

was credited mostly to CyanogenMod. The custom ROM was not only pre-installed on the OnePlus One but also the device came carrying the tag on its back. Thus the fame with the CyanogenMod was admitted by the officials to have played a key role in making the OnePlus One a success.

This is quite true as both OnePlus and CyanogenMod went on a positive track side by side. This companionship was however unpleasantly joined by some disputes. As we have reported sometime earlier the CyanogenMod tag on the back of OnePlus One resulted into a law battle in India. OnePlus One faced a short time ban in Indian stores following the law battle.

Following this development we also came to know some other reports showing the OnePlus with its own Android based OS release. This was after the deal between Micromax and Cyanogen that took the OnePlus One to the unwanted consequences in India. This came to be rather a good event as OnePlus stepped up its efforts actualizing the OxygenOS.

Many differences were created between Cyanogen and OnePlus but things seem not completely finished yet. Despite the end of partnership between two, Cyanogen is still determined to work with and support OnePlus for success in Indian smartphone market. This was actually the reason behind the release of the CM 12 updates for the OnePlus One. The updated CyanogenMod version is build over the Android Lollipop.

But CyanogenMod was not pre-installed when we got the OnePlus One 2 which was powered by OxygenOS instead. Thus the track with the OnePlus 2 will be basically different from the OnePlus One. However after the revival of the friendly environment between Cyanogen and OnePlus there are expectations that OnePlus 2 users may get a chance to flash the CyanogenMod on their devices very soon. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Read about our Affiliates Disclosure Policy here.
