Qualcomm Technologies announced an upgrade in its Snapdragon 810 processor, increasing its support for greater coverage and speed. The Snapdragon 810 processor will now support the category 9 LTE Carrier Aggregation connectivity. This also makes it the first Snapdragon processor to support the Category 9 Carrier Aggregation.
The Snapdragon 801 processor with category 9 supports will be available to the customers early in 2015. This upgrade makes the Snapdragon processor able to bring key improvements in the performance and connectivity of mobile computing. Its improved experiences will include faster downloads and quicker application performance. With this addition the 810 processor will became the first Qualcomm processor with fully integrated 64-bit multicore CPU.
Along with the support to 3x20MHz Category 9 Carrier Aggregation and the LTE-Advanced multimode modem it also shows aggregation across FDD and TDD carriers. It’s LTE advanced modem is also backwards compatible with the key cellular standards and technologies that are supported by 4G LTE. These standards includes GSM/EDGE, CDMA1x/EVDO, TD-SCDMA and WCDMA/HSPA+.
According to claims made by the company the snapdragon processor has successfully passed the validity for its Category 9 capability in various tests. These test were conducted with various network and testing companies and proved the snapdragon 810 processor showing download speeds of up to 450 Mbps. This is a good increase form the former peak data rates of 300 Mbps to the latest LTE standard. The company also claimed that each of the tests successfully demonstrated the snapdragons 801’s support of 3x Carrier Aggregation with three LTE component carriers.
The company in its issued press release vows to continue its leading position in the mobile industry with its competitive technological advancement. Its current forward move is in order to deliver faster cellular data connectivity solutions with its famous Snapdragon processor. This move ensures providing speedy application performance and more rich features across the greater coverage areas that are enabled by its support to the LTE Category 9 connectivity.
