In a recent report we learned about Apple’s shipment of iPhone for this holiday quarter was 74.8 million, slightly up against the 74.4 million of the same period last year. The shipment was however just under the expected 75 million. A fresh report by Strategy Analytics further explores Apple’s performance with iPhone and also its position against the key competitors in the smartphone market.
Apple also records 1.1% growth in global market share by vendors from 15% to 16.1%. The market leader Samsung observed a 2.5% drop in its global market share, from 24.7% to 22.2%.
According to the market statistics, Apple globally ranks at the second spot behind Samsung with most number of device shipments. In 2015, Apple shipped 231.5 million units of iPhone globally which is quite high as compared with the 192.7 million shipments in 2014. Leading in numbers Samsung has shipped 319.7 million smartphones last year, slightly higher than the 317.2 million shipments in 2014.
As noted by Strategy Analytics, Apple’s strategy shift towards the emerging market has played the key role in taking up the shipment to the peak. Apple is also expected to continue its focus towards the emerging market to further the growth in shipments. Particularly the upcoming 4-inch iPhone 5se is expected to play a major role expending scope of iPhones in these markets.
Besides Apple’s performance, the Strategy Analytics also noted a considerable growth in overall smartphone shipments globally. According to the statistics the global smartphone shipment was 12% up from 1.2 billion to 1.4 billion units in 2015. Apple also records 1.1% growth in global market share by vendors from 15% to 16.1%. The market leader Samsung observed a 2.5% drop in its global market share, from 24.7% to 22.2%.
Another report about smartphone market trends shows the growing popularity of LTE capable smartphones. As per the report overall 850 smartphone brands are noted taking part in the market competition in 2015 with 20 top brands securing 85% of shipments. The reports show Apple successfully expending its scope in global smartphone market specially with its focus on emerging markets.
