Samsung beats Apple in smartphone consumer satisfaction survey

We all know very well that Samsung is the largest smartphone seller and maker in the world. Apple comes second in that list but earlier Apple had an upper hand on Samsung in term of consumer satisfaction. But now situation has changed significantly for Samsung and it has surpassed Apple in term of consumer satisfaction as well.

The South Korean electronics giant beat Apple in customer satisfaction by just two points. American Consumer Satisfaction Index surveyed 70,000 people and asked them about their satisfaction with their smartphones. Samsung scored 81 points in that survey and just managed to get lead of two points over Apple which scored 79 points. This is a good progress of Samsung over the last year when it managed just 76 points. Interestingly last year Apple got the 81 points.

It is much unexpected to see Apple losing on points table because its iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus both showed great improvements over the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. On the other hand it is surprising too to see Samsung’s improvement. Earlier Samsung has received plenty of criticism for its flagship Galaxy S5 which still features an all-plastic design whereas rivals like Apple, HTC, and Sony are using more premium materials like aluminum and glass. In spite of all that Samsung Galaxy S5 still managed to get satisfaction not only from media and also from the customers.

According to Survey, Nokia, which sold its handset business to software giant Microsoft earlier this year and Motorola were ranked third, with both companies picking up scores of 77. HTC ranked fourth with 75 points and narrowly beat BlackBerry which is at No.5 with 74 points, LG remained at No.6 with the score of 73.

The American Consumer Satisfaction Index survey is generally a good marker and gives us a good Idea what is happening in the mobile industry. These days Apple seems to be in a quiet period while Samsung is very busy innovating devices left and right. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Read about our Affiliates Disclosure Policy here.
