Samsung is expected to launch its new smart watch with built in fingerprint scanner and payment system, next year. This will lead the smart watch efforts of Samsung to the next level.
The Korean technology giant with its smart watches is competing Apple which announced its Apple Watch recently. Samsung shows activeness in the market this year with its big space of Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Live, and Gear S smart watches. It is expected to bring out the upgrade, in the race of smart watches at Mobile World Congress 2015. The upcoming smart watch still remains unnamed.
It is also expected to copy Apple by enabling its smart watch with mobile payment. Although the Apple Watch was announced to be initially available only in US, Samsung took a step forward by making its services available in 50 countries worldwide. The new smart watch will also be able receive promotional offers from nearby stores.
The payment system is an extension of the previous relationship between Samsung and PayPal, which have already agreed this year to enable payment service with the Galaxy S5’s fingerprint sensor. Although by involving PayPal it seems to leave Google Wallet out of things altogether.
Earlier this month apple launched its smart watch naming at Apple Watch, which was said to be the star of the day at Apple’s September 9 mega event in Cupertino. This move by Samsung is obviously aimed competition with Apple Watch. Both of the wearable will become available on the same time next year.
While Apple concentrated on its updated health and fitness feature along with its payment system which will be enabled in Apple Watch, Samsung comes with built-in fingerprint scanner and as well the payment system. Its built-in fingerprint scanner is claimed to give it the edge.
With little information out it’s still not entirely clear that either new Tizen or Android Wear model will be the platform. Though, by considering the past Samsung is expected to have Tizen.
