Sony Xperia X series will replace Xperia Z Series, No more Xperia Z6

Sony was expected to refresh its Xperia Z lineup as the smartphone market is receiving the most anticipated flagships this month. But against the anticipated Xperia Z device Sony introduced a trio with Xperia X naming, the devices include Xperia XA, Xperia X and Xperia X Performance.

Following the surprising announcement of the brand new family the arrival of Xperia Z device is in jeopardy we may find Sony making another announcement soon or there may be nothing arriving for the Xperia Z family at all.

Most probably we are not going to see any addition in the Xperia Z family, including the Xperia Z6 which was reported earlier. It was also pointed by the Sony Mobile Germany which almost rules out any expected Xperia Z device. According to the company’s Germany sources the brand new X series is launched to replace the Z series.

Sony Mobile Germany made this clarification on Facebook while responding to fans who have been wondering about the launch of new Xperia X family against the anticipated Xperia Z. Also it goes ruling out the existence of any Xperia Z6 device which was earlier reported by some unofficial sources to launch soon.

Following the remarks by Sony Mobile Germany we can pick the Sony Xperia X Performance as Sony’s flagship device for 2016. The Xperia X Performance is however not hitting the markets before June which also rules out possibility of any other flagship devices coming this year.

The smartphone market is beefed up with Samsung and LG flagship devices which were announced a couple of days back. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and LG G5 are equipped with high processing specs and impressive features. Sony with a brand new family seems ready to face the competition which is expected to rise further by the time when the Xperia X Performance appears on shelves. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Read about our Affiliates Disclosure Policy here.
