According to Sony‘s online support page, users of Sony Xperia Z5 are having problems opening Google Play Store. This issue has arisen after the recent Android Marshmallow update. There have been several complaints on the support forum regarding this issue. Users that upgraded to Android Marshmallow, are reporting that the app shuts down. Following the shutdown, a pop-up is displayed stating that the Google Play Store has stopped working. Other users also stated that they simply cannot get the app to open. Most of the people that have updated their Sony Xperia Z5 to Android 6.0 via Wi-Fi, or mobile network are encountering this problem.
“As soon as I updated to Marshmallow, I keep getting the ‘Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped…’ and the message keeps coming up every 5 seconds. I keep getting the pop up non-stop and it happened as soon as it updated to Marshmallow.” __says one user.
Sony is not handling the issue very well. The manufacturer has suggested that if the problem occurs, and the Google Play Store won’t open, resetting your phone might do the trick. Doing a factory reset on our phone is frustrating, and it has only solved the problem for some of the users. There are many Sony Xperia Z5 users, who are still reporting that the problem isn’t fixed, even after the factory reset.
There is a better solution to the problem based on the responses in the Sony support forum. The best way to fix the issue sync your Xperia Z5, to the PC on your desktop, and head to Sony’s PC Companion app. Then re-install the Android Marshmallow update from their. Hopefully then the problem will be eliminated, and you will be able to access Google Play Store. If you haven’t yet installed the latest Android update, it is best to do it via Sony’s PC Companion to avoid encountering the Google Play Store issue.
