Smartphones are the life of the technology, nowadays. The trend, the style and the feel of this tech will never fade away. The cell phones are as important to us as any other significant thing nowadays. This is why various other sub-parts are complimenting the Smartphones to make them more amusing for us. One such element is games and the gaming. And with increasing time and the pace of the money oriented world, gaming has become a separate sector for monetary value.
Nintendo has just launched its first Smartphone app and is also working on another app with more character based gaming. Similarly, Sony is another name which is jumping into the gaming sector with its upcoming Smartphone game. The game has been formed in collaboration with the company’s new corporation ForwardWorks.
In a recent press release, Sony announced about its latest gaming venture. In the same announcement, the company also announced its name change from Sony Computer Entertainment to Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. According to Sony, ForwardWorks is a new company “aimed to deploy services toward the ever-expanding smart device market”. It is expected to begin its operations from April 1st, 2016.
The press release also declared that ForwardWorks will also employ some elements of the PlayStation software titles. Indirectly, it means that we can expect some old games and the famous characters coming to the Smartphone gaming soon. The company in its official press release stated;
“ForwardWorks will leverage the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation® dedicated software titles and its gaming characters as well as the knowledge and know-how of gaming development expertise which was acquired over the years with PlayStation® business to provide gaming application optimized for smart devices including smartphones* to users in Japan and Asia. The company will aim to deliver users with an opportunity to casually enjoy full-fledged game titles in the new field of the smart device market.”
We can guess that the games coming our way must be some extreme character related fun. And, if Sony is really serious it should be announcing new titles son, instead of the mainstream old names. Moreover, we can also conjecture that the games will be compatible with both Android and iOS.
Sony isn’t trying its luck with mobile gaming for the first time. Years ago, the company launched its own ‘PlayStation Phone’ with access to a number of bespoke games designed for mobile through PlayStation Mobile. Needless to say, that effort didn’t turn out pretty well. However, this could be Sony’s golden chance if some intelligent game making is paired with a cross-platform networks.
