Android Wear update still in early phases of testing? Users gets the update accidently

The next Android wear update seems ready as one of the Huawei Watch owners reported getting test build of upcoming version, on Reddit post. The owner who posts on the Reddit with handle ThirdTime Caller claims to have received OTA update which enabled speaker on the Watch.

The official update may take much time before it arrives to the timepiece as the Watch owner found the test build taking too much time to download and install. Therefore the test build seems far beyond stable and as anticipated by the Huawei Watch owner the update may not land until got stable.

Yesterday night I noticed my Huawei Watch received an OTA update but I didn’t get to install it until this morning since it took so long to download. This is a TEST BUILD so I don’t think others will be getting it until the stable release. A quick test before work showed that the speaker indeed works. So far I see that you can set a ringtone for phone calls and making phone calls on the watch itself works. Having text-to-speech is annoying because it reads out the time and any menu you go into. I wish it would only read out my notifications at user specified times. –ThirdTime caller via Reddit

As described by the Huawei Watch owner after receiving test build the speaker on his watch started working. With speaker enabled the watch can handle calls and also play alert tones. Being a test build the update shows ultimate features to expect on the final release.

The owner also reported issues in text-to-speak mode on the test build. As per details, on text-to-speech mode the watch reads out everything on screen including the time and menus. This is also a matter of concern which shows the test build is yet to get major improvements and is in early phase. Though there is a little info to get about the upcoming Android Wear version but the claims got a good response. Following the speculations, some early developments are also expected in this regard.

Android has already announced to bring a number of key additions into the upcoming version of Android Wear. The speaker support on the new version seems a part of it as we have a number of upcoming Android Wear devices with cellular connectivity. Previously we had the details about LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE which was supposed to be the first cellular enabled Android Wear device. But later it got cancelled due to certain issues including those with its image quality and hardware.
