Xiaomi has introduced its new phablet naming it Xiaomi Mi Note. It is running Android and has 5.7-inch display. Xiaomi’s new flagship device for the year is certainly going to give tough time to other flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus especially in emerging Asian markets.
Xiaomi despite its limitations, has become a nightmare for the big companies in the smartphone business like Apple and Samsung and has managed to be in the news especially in last six months after successfully achieving its different targets. Availability and Pricing
Although Xiaomi Mi 4 is only released in China yet, it’s been said that Xiaomi Mi Note will be released globally because of its wider band support for 4G. As announced it will cost some $260 for 16GB version which makes GBP245 and AU$455 (Actual prices is 2,299RMB). Whereas the 64GB model will be available for $450 or 2799RMB which makes GBP300 or AU$550. The Xiaomi Mi Note will be available for sale in China since January 27 and will be sold online worldwide.
Xiaomi has also announced to release Mi Note Pro which will be more powerful and run octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. It will be a speedy download device and will be LTE compatible with a 2K display. Xiaomi only revealed its prices but not the exact release date yet.
Design
The new Xiaomi Mi Note features a curved glass on front and on read as well. While Xiaomi is comparing its new phablet with Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus, there are a lot of differences in both especially design wise.
The 5.7-inch display is not only the thing to mention. The curved glasses are unique in their type as well. Mi Note front has ‘2.5 D’ whereas the glass on rear is 3D curved glass. This makes it easy to grip the phone and swiping. This idea of curved glasses is although we already ve seen in iPhone 4S and Sony Xperia but the 3D curve do resembles to Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
Overall Xiaomi Mi Note is a beautifull phablet with top quality built. Infact after the OPPO revealing its rock solid Phone video, Xiaomi also showed a similar video about the drop tests of Mi Note.
Brief Specifications
Xiaomi Mi Note has 13 MP rear and 4 MP front camera with upto 2µm pixels and optical image stabilization. Which is almost perfect for selfies. Software wise it runs Android KitKat over it but there is a lot of customization. You will notice the UI is similar to iOS.
Talking of other specifications, it runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM and is backed by 3,000mAh battery. With a full HD display of 1920X1080 pixel resolution it gives 16GB or 64 G storage. Surprisingly it has no microSD card slot. It is a dual-SIM phablet with 4G LTE support.
Verdict
Xiaomi Mi Note is a bit expensive phablet especially because Xiaomi is famous for its cheap phones with high specs. It has higher specs and its built is of high quality.
Although the product has not yet launched thus we cannot talk in details about it but Xiaomi Mi Note is going to be deal changer in the smartphones market especially in Asian markets.
