LG is planning to bring back App Drawer for LG G5 and other LG phones

LG G5Several Android users have disliked LG‘s decision to remove the app drawer from the LG G5. Users have been displeased with having all of their applications cluttered on the home screen. The home screen’s color palette is also not very popular. All of this has led some users to install third party launchers and themes. Launchers and themes can modify your interface completely to suit your needs. They are easily available on Google Play Store.

Still, if you admire the stock UI, and are frustrated due to the lack of an app drawer, we have got good news for you. LG has decided to come up with the solution for those who want the drawer back. The company has made the LG Home (UX 4.0), available for LG G5.

LG Home is LG G4’s launcher. It can be downloaded from the LG SmartWorld portal. The launcher is compatible with the LG G5, the LG Stylus 2, LG K8 and probably other LG devices which have the LG UX 5.0 interface.

Installing the LG Home launcher will bring the app drawer back to your device. The Launcher will also include all the other features that accompany the drawer like the apps/widgets tabs, app search, and a menu with the various view and uninstall options. The icons, wallpapers, and other visuals of the smartphone will remain the same. It would have been more convenient to give the stock LG UX 5.0 a launcher update that would enable and disable the app drawer. But still installing LG Home launcher is also quite simple.

To get the app drawer launcher all you need to do is open the LG SmartWorld application. Upon launching the app will display a pop-up of the LG Home 4.0 and from there the launcher can easily be downloaded. If you don’t encounter the pop-up just go to the menu on the top left, tap LG specials -> LG Apps. The launcher will be available there.

If you live in the U.S. your LG G5 might not come with the LG SmartWorld app pre-installed. For example, the T-mobile units don’t have the application store pre-loaded. In that case, you will have to download the LG SmartWorld app from LG only. The other way to go would be to directly download the LG Home (UX. 4.0) launcher from

The other way to go would be to directly download the LG Home (UX. 4.0) launcher from here. The LG SmartWorld app can respond very slowly at times so the better approach would be the former one. Before installing third party apps make sure you smartphone has the permission to do so. To give permission for the third party app installation navigate to the Security menu inside the Settings app and check the box next to Unknown sources, which allows third-party application installs.
